Christian Ladurner was born in 1964 in Innsbruck, Austria.

After his first experiences with the flute at the age of four he received his first violin and viola lessons at the Conservatory of Innsbruck.

Along with theology studies in Innsbruck and Rome he continued to attend the viola classes of A. Redditi/Rome, Thomas Riebl/Salzburg, Hatto Beyerle/Hannover and Martin Mumelter/Innsbruck. To his surprise he became the viola section's leader in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. First experiences regarding contemporary music followed (with the Tiroler Kammerorchester) and medieval music (with Howard Arman).

Christian Ladurner completed his theology degree and worked as a parish assistent until music, which was his secondary interest, became his main calling: He finished his viola studies in the masterclass of P. Ochsenhofer/Vienna and joined the viola section of the Vienna Symphony.

His recent engagement is playing the viola da gamba, supported by Pierre Pitzl and Lorenz Duftschmied, playing in ensembles such as the Marini Consort and „Private Musicke“ at various medieval music festivals.

On occasion he receives commissions for compositions.
